Exciting Announcement: The Shellfish Pig’s 2nd Birthday Feast Evening With Support From Sharps Brewery

Exciting Announcement: The Shellfish Pig’s 2nd Birthday Feast Evening With Support From Sharps Brewery

In the midst of all this great weather we have been frantically searching for a great location to hold our second feast evening, celebrating our 2nd year of trading as The Shellfish Pig. We wanted to do it on a beach this year and who knew how hard that would prove to organise!? Finally we found Carlyon Bay, Crinnis Beach and the guys in charge there have been really accommodating and are right behind our event, so thanks guys! To whet your appetite you can read this lovely review of our first feast evening last year by clicking here. To find out all the tasty details of this year’s evening which will take place on Saturday 13th August you can follow the link below, this is also the link to purchase your tickets - we really hope you can join us! Full Information and Buy Your Tickets By Clicking Here As you will see we are being supported by Sharps Brewery on the beach and so each course will be complemented by a taster size drink of one of their delicious beers, picked especially because it complements our food (that’s right, we had to eat food and drink beer to come up with this menu, such a hard life!)! The first 30 people to buy their tickets get an extra treat in the form of a Sharps Secret Bar Experience but in truth every person with a ticket is in for a lovely evening! Our last feast sold out within a couple of weeks of tickets going on sale. We have extra tickets for this one but please get...
The Shellfish Pig and The Cornwall Good Seafood Guide, A Perfect Pairing!

The Shellfish Pig and The Cornwall Good Seafood Guide, A Perfect Pairing!

As you are probably aware, we are pretty passionate about the amazing seafood we have access to here in Cornwall. We also try to make the right decisions when using seafood in our dishes and we look at the health of stocks, the season and the fishing method before buying. As soon as we heard about The Cornwall Good Seafood Guide we were eager to join and as paid up members we were delighted to be asked to provide a dish for a talk at their Truro office on Tuesday January 26th. Matt Slater will be talking about The CGSG and we will be using some of the most sustainable/recommended seafood to make a Cornish Seafood & Saffron Stew which will be available after the talk for just £5. You can read more about this event and even book yourself a ticket by clicking...

The Shellfish Pig at City of Lights 2015! (Serving from King Street!)

Just when you think you can put your feet up in front of the fire for Winter, Cornwall’s brightest event arrives! We loved taking The Shellfish Pig to Truro’s City of Lights event last November and we booked our pitch for this year immediately afterwards! We have never witnessed a more vibrant, happy atmosphere in Truro than at this event and we are delighted to be serving our tasty Cornish streetfood from KING STREET this year. It’s also busy, very busy so pick your spot carefully and allow time to come and say hello to us! This brilliant event is taking place on Wednesday 18th November and you can find all the information you need about it by clicking this link. To whet your appetite we will have the following dishes freshly prepared, locally sourced and delicious: Slow Cooked Primrose Herd Pork, Chorizo and Pig Cheek Chill served Piled High on Turmeric Rice and Topped with Cheddar Cheese and Sour Cream. Winter is Coming!

Winter is Coming!

After such a busy Summer which stretched out into Autumn we are happy that our great pitches and events keep on coming! A couple of weeks ago we served our food alongside our favourite pizza guys; Wild Bake, at The Bike Lights event in Wadebridge which was a sight to behold and well worth a trip next year (we will be there for sure!). We are now back at our Tremough Campus (Penryn) pitch every Tuesday from around 10.30am onwards serving up our smoked pulled pork, burritos, chillis, chowders and much more! We have had 3 sell out weeks since returning which is a great sign that we are doing something right for the hungry students and staff! On Friday 6th November we head to our favourite pub; The Star Inn, Porkellis, to serve up some sausage themed dishes as we help the guys celebrate National Sausage Week - Shellfish Pig style! Do come along if you can, it will be a tasty sausage fest! Then after that we will start to think about The Truro City of Lights, always an incredible evening and one of our favourite events of the whole year! More info will follow in our next blog! We are still available for hire and also have several outside catering/Christmas & birthday party deliveries to make! Plenty more on the horizon too but feel free to get in touch if you’d like to find out...
The Shellfish Pig – What a Brilliant Summer it was!

The Shellfish Pig – What a Brilliant Summer it was!

Phew! We admit it; we’ve been too busy to blog for a couple of months, sorry it’s been quiet! This Summer has been the best yet for The Shellfish Pig (ok so we only have one other to compare it to but still!). From our own very first Feast Night back in May; to BAAM Fest in June; Rock Oyster Festival in July; Trefusis Sounds and The Sky Bar in August and Crugfest in September, we have had our minds blown by some unbelievably good Cornish events, in some beautiful locations. We popped up on Carylon Beach which, as the photo above shows, was stunning and very busy! We are hoping to do more there next year and if you didn’t get chance to visit this Summer then get it in your diary for 2016! We were delighted to be asked to provide the food at the prize giving evening at Flushing Sailing Club during the Falmouth week finale and more recently the food for the 2nd ever Penryn pop up cinema! Love doing these community events in our hometown and surrounds! We’ve been stuck in the mud, sun burnt, towed backwards (don’t ask!) and perhaps once or twice have had to camp beside the van unexpectedly; as it’s not wise to drive after a few happy ciders at the end of shift, it’s easy to get carried away! We carried on our regular visits to Padstow Touring Park and Carnon Downs Caravan Park until quite recently and as ever both places were busy and a pleasure to visit all Summer! We have been hired out for several private parties - a christening, two birthday parties, one hen party...

Andy Bates and The Enys Food Jam

We had a great day at Enys Gardens earlier this month taking part in The first Enys Food Jam. And look who enjoyed our smoked pulled pork and came in to the van for a pic! Andy Bates has written a lovely blog describing the whole event which is well worth a read, you can take a look...
